jyotiSa as vedAnga - Part 3

Background The definition of jyotiSaa in brhat samhita is a person who has multi-dimensional knowlege and makes use of this knowledge to do predictive modelling and make predictions out of them. Since it is not possible for one person to do it all, brhat Samhita calls for a team of jyotisaa to work together and make predictions for a King.

Simply put, jyotiSa is a science of predictive modelling with data from various information sources and using that model to make reasonable inferences about the future. Like it or not, it is just like economics (1).
This is all about information becoming knowledge to make reasonable inferences for future, which are approximations, but which keeps on becoming better and better. A person practising jyotiSa can neither claim to make accurate predictions nor can allow the instincts to over-run the inferences. I had also described the 'luminaries' that have pround impact on planet Earth and they are visible even to our naked eye (2).

Aditya Hrdayam Again - Part 65 - Three-wheeled Asvins

Background  In the past few chapters, we went through
1. Force-fields (Scalar Higgs/Vishnu, Vector/Chakra, Spinor/Conch) (1)
2. Fundamental Particles (Panchajana/Five particle types, ChaturSana/Four right-handed particles) (2)
3. Interactions (Soma/strong, Madhu/Weak, Apa/Electromagnetic) (3)
4. Charges ( Vaishravana/Color, kAla/Weak, Yama/Electric) (3)
5. Composite Particles (Sura/Nucleons, Asura/Non-nucleons, Rakshasa/Vector and Pseudo-scalar mesons and Yaksa/Scalar and Pseudo-vector mesons) (4)
6. Concepts of Chirality, Helicity etc (4)
7. Asvins - The electromagnetic field (8)
8. How asvins grow vasus, learning/evolving molecular clouds (11)
9. Asvins leading to Stellar nucleosynthesis (12) Executive Summary of Rgveda Slokas Mandala 1 Hymn 180,181,182 The Rgvedic Sloka Mandala 1 Hymn 180 to 186 are about 'vidyAm esAm vrjanam jiradAnum', which is 'Knowledge/learning sprinkles abundantly in these settlements". In simpler words, it is about increasing information co…

Kapardin Rudra- Rg Veda Mandala 1 Hymn 114

Background Rudras are force-fields. There are eleven Rudras. Of this Kapardin Rudra is the 'braided' force-field.  Of all the particles, it is the 'quarks' that arise in a 'braided' form. Quarks always manifest in pairs or in triplets as 'condensates'. They always appear 'braided'.
Kapardin force-field is the field out of which Quark particles arise. The quark particles are the 'heroic abode' of all matter forms. All matter forms arise out of protons and electrons. Protons are made of quarks. Thus kapardin is said to be the abode of all matter forms.

The Rg Veda Mandala 1 Hymn 114 talks about the Kapardin Rudra, the braided force-field that causes the quarks and is the abode of the Universe. This sloka also has a reference for the puranic stories about varAha lifting the earth out of the waters with its 'tusk'.  Executive Summary of Rg veda Mandala 1 Hymn 114 Kapardin Rudra, the force-field that gives rise to braided quarks is t…

Caraka Samhita - Sutra sthAna - dIrghanjIvitIya adhyAyA - Sutras 64 to 68

Background In the last few posts, we saw how Caraka Samhita classifies life as a tripod of physical body, logical mind and Atman. Atman manifests as manas which is only an observer and does not undergo any defects. But the physical body and logical mind undergo defects due to falsities of 'time' (ageing) and falsities of excess consumption.

The falsities of excess consumption by mind can be addressed by making knowledge out of information, by scientific study, by being equipoise.

The falsities of excess consumption by physical body/sarira results in doSas of pitta (information processing systems as in nervous system and hormones), doSas of kapha (metabolic systems) and doSas of Vayu (controllers of these systems, which is immune system). Atleast this is the way I see the doSas as in Caraka Samhita.

Caraka Samhita propounds a principle that if one observes the effect of doSas produced in the body and counter it with a 'dravya' or 'material' or 'medicine…

Caraka Samhita - Sutra sthAna - dIrghanjIvitIya adhyAyA - Sutras 54 to 63

The core principle of Ayurveda is 'like' increases 'like' and that is ordinary. 'Opposite' decreases the like and it is special. This principle is applicable to both physical sarira and logical mind.
dravya with 'like' 'gunas or characteristics' add up with each other and grow. It is ordinary. But dravya with opposite gunas or characteristics counteract with each other and they help control. They are special.

A physical body or sarira is also made of different types of dhAtu or ingredients chemically interacting with each other. These equivalent dhAtus in the sarira engage in a cause-effect, action-reaction sequence and create all the metabolic, electrical signaling, hormonal signaling, control of metabolism and signaling processes by chemical reactions.

A logical mind is made up of 'thoughts' that interact with each other and produces knowledge or wisdom, scientific investigations and emotional drives such as courage etc
